My 2 Cents

either way
right or wrong
we are nothing more
than simple pawns

run the race
thru the lies
they're all just clowns
in disguise

black or white
it's all grey
with truth be known
i'd rather have a say

(--chorus--)
nothing you can offer will change my mind
your greed & your sin are the ties that bind
livin' like a slave is a waste of time
when my 2 cents ain't worth a dime

why in life
must i be
everything they
ask of me?

don't be blind
to nature's eye
if you make me choose
i'll take the sky

the world's weight
comes crashing down
when you use your
thorns as a crown

========

this is a song that i have been working on over the last year or so. i wrote the words as i developed and fine tuned the bass line. i have finally found a drummer that plays what i have been hearing in my head since day one. it works...and it works well. hopefully a recording will show up one of these days.

anyway, i felt the need to post my lyrics because the more i sing them and more i think about them, the more personal they become within my inner being. i've grown a lot as a person due to this song...and i know the song has been molded into something much stronger and more meaningful not only to me, but others that i've shared it with.

don't believe that nations can be steered

so keep on dreaming
keep on dreaming
and when you wake
with your choice
don't be disappointed
if it turns out
like all the rest

"One of these days the Ship of Gold
will carry me to my reward.
Out of this world it will take me
to hear the horns of Jubilee."
